God has…planned eternity for the heart. Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NLT)
Life! What is life on earth suppose to be like?
Let me give you a few examples: dress rehearsal, practice, warm-ups, pre-game show, try-outs, and anything else you can think of that happens “before” the actual game begins, is life.
We were made to live for eternity; therefore, life IS the dress rehearsal, practice, warm-ups, and everything else before living life in eternity.
Have you ever wondered why “death seems so unfair?” Think about it. If you have every lost someone close, death always seems to leave us feeling empty.
But the bible says, “your earthly body is a temporary residence for your spirit.
When this tent we live in–our body here on earth–is torn down, God will have a house in heaven for us to live in, a home he himself has made, which will last forever.
C.S. Lewis said, “There are two kinds of people: those who say to God ‘Thy will be done’ and those to whom God says, ‘All right then, have it your way.'”
The moment you begin to live closer to God, everything else becomes trivial, petty, and doesn’t deserve your attention. Why? Because you have realized that this life is preparing you for your life to come, for eternity, which changes everything you see around you. Your goals change. Your attitude changes. Your view on life changes. Nothing stays the same. Everything changes when you see life from God’s perspective.
If you have ever spoken with a financial planner at a firm, they usually tell you “invest for the long run…” Now, I’m going to tell you the same, “invest for eternity with God…”
But here’s what a financial planner won’t tell you. Everyone’s financial situation is not the same; so, why try to stuff you into the same category as someone else. Nevertheless, not everyone’s spiritual relationship with God is the same; those without a relationship with God, will spend eternity in “hell,” and those who do have a relationship with God, will spend eternity in “heaven.” It’s just that simple.
Think of it this way.
Your mother carried you in her womb for 9 months, which prepared you for this world. God carried you for 90 years on earth, which prepared you for eternity. However, some mothers didn’t care for their bodies properly while carrying their child, other times, the child simple rejected what the mother offered. The same is true with God when you accept Jesus Christ. Jesus will feed you what you need to nourish your mind, heart, body, and soul; however, not all the children of God will accept the food offered to them, they reject it/him, Jesus Christ.
If you measure our time on earth against eternity, you could probably blink your eye’s and miss it.
