Obeying God whole-heartedly, God smiles
Noah had to build an ark that would save the animal population as well as his family, this required strict attention to detail, which God provided.
The Bible tells us Noah’s response:
“Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.” Genesis 6: 22 (NLT)
Notice that Noah obeyed God “completely” and “exactly”, Noah obeyed God whole-heartedly.
“If God asked you to build a giant boat, don’t you think you might have a few questions, objections, or reservations? Noah didn’t. He obeyed God whole-heartedly. That means doing whatever God ask without reservation or hesitation. You don’t procrastinate and say, “I’ll pray about it.” You do it immediately. Every parent knows that delayed obedience is really disobedience.” Rick Warren “Purpose Driven Live”
Often times we offer God partial obedience. For example, tithing 5% when God ask for 10%; reading your Bible, but won’t forgive. We seem to find a list of excuses when what God ask us to do is inconvenient.
James tells us:
“You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.” James 2: 24 (ESV)
Ultimately, any act of obedience pleases God because is proves you really love him.
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” John 14: 15 (ESV)
